I just wanted some feedback from people with or without traction control. Do you guys think it is a must when getting a car such as a Camaro or Trans Am? Thanks, Derek

I don't have traction control on my Formula and if I was getting another one, I would look for one without traction control. It may be good for some people, but for me it's just one more thing to remember to turn off before going racing.

not a must... but I like it on mine...

If it's dry out first thing I do is turn off traction control... but if it's wet out or raining it's a nice option... but really it's not something you need...

I drove all winter in plenty of snow in my M6 Z28 without traction control and on stock sized tires. It wasn't too bad really. Next winter I'll probably get snow tires though!

I have TCS on my Formula. It has its ups and downs. It has saved my a$$ a few times, but sometime it gets in the way. For instance, in some snow driving you need some wheel slippage to get you going. I am glad to have it though.

BTW, I do have snow tires. They are Blizzak WS-50. They are great. I got them in a package deal with cheap steel wheels mounted and balanced from TireRack for under $600.

for some reason, with my tires (Khumo Ecsta MXs)... I need it, especially on wet roads. I do turn it off alot too so I can play around.

ASR saved my *** a few times on wet roads. My 'verter was locked up at 1200rpm (45mph~) and i needed to move out of a lane fast, naturally i laid down some pedal, the converter unlocked and jumped to about 3000rpm, tail end was all over the place, asr kicked in saved my ****. maybe you m6 guys have more control no doubt, but when your verter unlocks and lets loose some fury, on the wet, its not very fun.

simply flooring the gas from a stop with ASR on, leaves a 10 foot patch of 555R DR before the ASR can kick in an stop it. I need no more laying drag tickets lol.

When i was looking for my car i made sure it had tcs. now every time i get in my car i turn it off. if i had to do it over again it wouldnt matter either way.

It has it's pros and cons. I like it because it's nice sometimes, but others it gets in the way. I would buy another car with it.

I like it, both of my cars have it. I just got the reverse switch for them both so I don't have to turn it off every time I start the car.
But it's nice to have when the roads are slick, or if you are pushing alot of RWHP and the road itself is slick, then it's a life saver.

I don't have it and I don't want it. I have it on my GTP and it gets shut off if I think it might kick in.

I drive my car all year lonog through N.IL winters without it and I do fine.

I live where it rains EVERY DAMN DAY in the summer, and I don't have traction control. As long as you baby the throttle from a stop, you'll be fine. but if you mash the gas, you won't go anywhere.

and thats whats nice about ASR and rain/etc, give it too much gas, and you go somewhere.

Have it, HATE it. If you know how to drive, the prehistoric traction control is simply an annoyance. With an M6 it can only do so much, which basically results in the car not moving (from a stop). MAYBE on an A4 it makes more sense, don't know...

BTW, I woul never drive my car in the snow at this point... Rain just takes common sense.

I turn it off every time I get in. I have driven in snow rain & whatnot & having something tell me I cannot give it gas gives me a scare, I can think better than a comp, or at least I think I can, LOL.
