Default Temporarily lost 1st gear?(4L60E)

I made a 250 mile round trip to the track tonight and the car did great until maybe 5 miles before the track. It threw a code but had no noticeable issues, and then when pulling into the tracks parking lot 1st gear was gone. I parked the car and let it cool down, felt like 1st was back so I made 4 passes at the track and drove home later with no issues.

Is this a common issue or something I should be worried about? My 04 Silverado with a FLT built 60E did this exact same thing at the track but after restarting the truck a few times everything was back to normal, never happened again. ..any input on this is appreciated!

Oh and this is supposedly a "built" 60E, 3800 stall.

"limp home" mode or whatever the technical name for it is. Hence the reason why the restart fixed it. One of several trans faults can cause it to trip.

Ah limp mode, don't know why I didn't think of that. Hopefully it's not an internal issue and the SES light had something to do with it. Thanks!

Most likly it was PO757 and its not a real code but a false code caused by the converter under certain conditions. The PCM literally becomes confused by the higher than expected engine rpm caused by the stall it can be and intermitant or reoccuring issue. The best solution is to have the test for that code removed. This is a common issue.
