Here are the guidelines/limits:
CAR 2002 Camaro SS (see sig)
-Must be OE style wheel d/t price (this includes the new C6 Grand sport wheel)
-Open to 17 or 18" wheels
-Lowered on strano springs/Koni's
-Stock calipers right now
-Prefer not to run spacers
-Must be a 200 + treadwear tire
-No tubs or mini tubs
-I am willing to run a larger front setup for competition and downsize fronts (and rears?) for the street

I would love to run the lightest style of OE wheels (if anyone has input on weights), and I would prefer to run this same wheel/tire for street and track (since I'm 200+ treadwear anyway)...I am planning on using the new Nitto NT05. Like I said, I am not opposed to running a larger tire upfront for competition and staggard on the street FWIW.

The NT05's come in the following sizes that I would consider: 275/40 17, 315/35 17, 275/40 18, 295/35 18

Looking for input from those who compete and who have gone down this road before...Thanks!

C5 ZR1s are probably the lightest stock style wheel. 17s are still easy to find good tires for, but in another few years, its going to be harder and harder, as everyone is moving to 18s. something to think about, especially if you ever plan on getting slicks, or used slicks. i pieced together a set of 18in wagon wheels just for track tires.

C5 ZR1?

C5 zo6 wheels are the lightest factory wheel I think.

Best tire choice for the money imo is a Nitto NT 05

I'm thinking c5z06, although dish C5 and C6 GS are also on the list. Better sizing exists right now in 17 but I get your point on the 18's (which is what I am running now).

Anyone else...anyone running 18's on the courses right now?

You will want to run C5 Z06 rims, I would go with the 18's all the way around so you can have wider tires rather then the 17's which are slightly thiner. I am running the stock size on the C6 Z06, see sig. 18's with 315's up front and 19's with 345's in the rear
