So i sold a shortblock this weekend and as we lifted it up into the buyers truck the support for the crank lever thats pinned to the base popped out, the crank piston is pretty much fully extended, it started spewing fluid and losing pressure. Im assuming it just broke a seal or something (it spent a lot of time outside, many years. It was also maxed out height wise at the time of failure).

Im borrowing the hoist from a friend who never really used it, but im not the type to bring stuff back in worse condition than i got it in. Is it possible to repair this type of thing? Its not a brand ive heard of, but i can post pics if it helps

Sounds like you over-extended the piston. Can you remove the end of the cylinder? Should be as simple as some O-rings, if it was damaged at all...

Like 67RSCamarVette said, you most likely over extended the piston. I doubt it has any damage.

Isn't it just bottle jack that lifts it. I'd replace the bottle jack if it was me.
