Ok so let's say someone got their hands on an up armored humwv turbo.... lol.... and it was brand new in th box.... could an ls1 spool it? And would it be usable hosepower? I understand it would be a custom job and would take a littl retro fitting but just wondering if it would be worth it... oh and if memory serves me correct, I believe its around a 55-65 trim turbo? Oh and this is totally a random question for the record and has nothing to do with me lol.... cough cough*

I'm no MotorT/Mechanic but I would assume its a similar turbo to the ones found on pickup diesel engines. The LS1 *shouldn't* have any issue spooling it.... I would think the fabrication would be your biggest challenge

speaking of, i found a bunch of used and new john deere turbo's in Kandahar. Some of them were pretty damn big, off the bigger generators
they were originally unaccounted for, and i was gonna take em, but our NCOIC turned em in for additional funds for the unit

Hmmm good call. I've seen som custom turbos built and ran off the rear of the car and might be a nice lil sleeper set up... especially with a turbo cam bc my cam right now screams, don't Mess with me lol

Let see, a soldier steals US Goverment property for personal gain and profit.
Why don't you do the job that you are payed to do and quit trying to rip off Uncle Sam and the tax payers.
Better yet why dont you brush up on Army Values.

You implied this in your first post. Your ethical values related to what is right and wrong need adjustment. I am sure your Chain of Command can assist you with the adjustment.

not defending him but just throwing my observations out there
when the military (any branch) orders bulk supplies, be it uniforms, boots, packs, magazines, engine parts, etc what is shipped and what is on the paperwork is NEVER what is actually in the box... in fact, there are always extras. I dont know how many times I've gone to supply for the smallest item only to walk away with a new pack full of crap I didnt even need. When you get down to the bottom of the box and the computer says there should be one left and you see three... its easier to 'get rid of' the extras instead of investing time in correcting the computer, reentering serial numbers, printing new inventory sheets, etc. When the government (aka, the taxpayer) pays for 100 of something and the mfgr sends 103, the government hasn't lost any money
again, not saying this is the case... but these types of things happen all the time. AND with no additional cost/loss to the taxpayers

WOW... If I did acquire a turbo, I damn sure wouldnt post asking suggestions of what to do with it on a public forum. I have seen Marines get hauled away by NCIS for "acquiring" less than $100 of old tools out of the tool room. He got investigated because he was bragging about some tools that he "may or may not" have "acquired" .... (fraud, waste and abuse)= no joke. How long have you been in?

:usa: Probably not very long. But, yes your ls will spool it. The Hummv is running a plan old GM 400 with diesel heads. Same setup as you'll find in the older chevy/gmc diesels. Use your knowledge from here a little wiser then what you learned in your branch. Eyes and ears are always open. Just saying, just ask the pfc from wikileaks he'll tell ya. :usa:

Yeah thats pretty ridiculous to steal gov property for your own personal gain then go on a public car forum and ask how to use it.
I live by my Core Values why can't you?
