I bought a new driveshaft and am having issues with the way the yoke fits, it is loose on the output shaft of my t56. The stock yoke is not. It is making noise and vibrating. It is a strange u1667 yoke. And before the thread has any ugly comments, the vendor I bought it from is great to deal with and is fully handling the issue. My concern is whether or not any one else has had problems with this yoke. And also who makes a chromoly yoke the fits and performs well. Thanks

I bought a spicer slip yoke from Moser. Don't think it is chromoly though, but it is forged steel.

I have the spicer one on my 1000hp pst driveshaft, I twisted the splines and need a billet one.

It may work for you. I'll just say that it doesn't work on my car and it is a stock t56 with less than 15k on it. Strange told me that there is basically no way that the yoke could be machined wrong, but it fits loosely on my output shaft. Creating a wobbling, vibrating action while driving. I am going to order a shaft and yoke from mark williams. A little more money, but they machine them in house and I think it is a superior product. He told me that he has yokes on the shelf if you need one. I think he said they were forged and heat treated.

Just seen this thread, I just installed a Strange CM yoke and took some measurements. The Strange measured a larger outside diameter than the factory yoke by .004in. With the factory yoke in the trans I could move it up/down .008-.010in. I did not test the Strange yoke yet so I don't know how much movement there is, but I would venture to guess it will be a tighter fit. Hopefully the larger OD of the Strange yoke did not push your tail shaft bushing in resulting in the excessive play.

That's weird, my yokes were exactly the same o.d. The bushing is definitely ok, because I can feel where it slides into it. The stock yoke is also tight, so I think I am ok there. Does your yoke have any play or vibration?

The stock yoke has up/down play but no vibration. Did not get the chance to test the Strange yoke yet.

I finally got this issue resolved. I can't say for sure that it was a problem with the yoke. I switched to a mark williams driveshaft and yoke. The driveshaft was approx. 5/8" longer than the strange driveshaft. That got rid of 90% of the noise and all of the vibration. Then I readjusted my pinion angle 1 more degree negative and it is completely gone. The mark williams yoke was .006" larger diameter than the strange one and fit much tighter. All total the new driveshaft and yoke was only $225 more and is a much better piece. It came painted black with much higher quality welds and an sfi sticker on it. The strange one was bare metal, no sticker, and decent welds, but definitely not the same quality and not the right length for sure.

If anyone needs a good yoke, I upgraded to a 32 spline and am selling my Mark Williams 27 spline C/M yoke. Part #39005, it has about 10 passes on it and 1500 miles. Still in like new condition. Thanks

I had a major vibration above 70. I had the right pinion angle so i thought my shaft wash too short. After talking to Strange and Dennys I found that my driveshaft is the right length. I ordered a Spicer yoke from Dennys and had them swapped out and rebalanced. Now my vibration is completely gone. I had a Strange U1667 stamped 09/07. I wonder if Strange had a bad early batch or something. I guess it could have been the front u joint as that was replaced as well, but it was balanced with the Strange unit.
