poll: 3-2 misshift anyone?
i've read a lot of threads where people have done this. i was just wondering how many of you actually have done it?
and we'll just assume all who answer "no" are automatically knocking on wood as they type.
i'll start: i have never done it.

I have only done it once because I had the stock p.o.s. Hurst shifter. After the Ripper I've have not (knocking on wood). But what I did two or three times was go in between 3rd and 5th and get it stuck (again p.o.s. Hurst shifter). lol
Peace,
Craig.

Buddy of mine did when he was at the very top of 3rd....his whole car shut off and would not start for a few minutes after.....ended up bending all 16 of his pushrods and was able to get them all replaced under warranty.
I personally have never done it.

I did it at around 4k rpm but recognized it really quick and saved any damage. I then studied the proper hand positions for shifting and have never had a problem again. You can push away towards the passenger side pretty forcefully and you will never go into 6th, you will hit 4th every time.

Same here... with in the first week of owning the car I did the infamous 3 -> 2 shift. I don't believe I did any long term damage to it. I don't hear any signs of bent pushrods at least It was only in gear for a very short time, I felt a big jerk from the rearend and what seemed like instantly I got the tranny back in neutral

I let my buddy take my car down the track (big mistake ) and he did a 1-2-1-2. While trying to recover from the missed third gear shift he went to go to fourth and put it back in 2. He caught them both pretty quickly and as far as I know none of the pushrods are bent (if they are it cant be very much, car still runs the same and no ticking noises whatsoever). I myself have never went to the wrong gear before...missed the gear completely a few times but never an accidental downshift.

I've done it. At the very top of 3rd on the dragstrip... BAM!!! Down to 2nd... ouch...
Yeah, so I have an appointment at LS1Speed coming up to inspect the pushrods, and check for further damage.

To those of you who have done this, and never checked out your pushrods, I would suggest you do...
My car runs fine, and on the steet there is no noticeable sign of power loss... but on the drag strip, I have lost 5 tenths, and 4 mph trap.

One more thing... I find the B&M shift pattern to be much more conducive to allowing the 3-2 miss-shift than the stock shifter. The pattern is narrower, and I almost feel like I am trying to put the car into 6th when I shift to 4th.
