Default External filter & cooler fittings?

I'm wanting to install an external spin-on trans filter for my 4l60e, and am thinking of getting a pair of 90* barb fittings to replace the quick connects on the transmission for the cooler lines. Thoughts? Does anybody have any links to any quality trans filter setups? Am also going to install a drain plug in the trans pan for easy fluid exchanges.

Well, I decided I'm going to use one of these:

But, I'm still up in the air on the fittings. I've just never liked those clip-in metal spring fittings, they've always felt cheap, and I've seen a couple pop out after having been removed (perhaps they were never re-installed correctly, idk). Regardless, it just gives me a sort of uneasy feeling. Thoughts???

being that the 4L60E case uses 1/4 npt thread for the fluid cooler lines, your choices for fittings is virtually unlimited.
Just make sure you don't overtighten the fittings as cracking the port's aluminum boss will result.
