every other year. My 02 f250 was smogged when I purchased it a year 1/2 ago. I renewed the tags in Jan of this year and did not smog it.

This!!! My truck has no cats which was a prob. The smog guy i went to says he looked up my vin and that my truck is supposed to have cats. I took it back to the dealer since i had just purchased it and they kept the truck a few days. It turns out that supposedly my truck was a Canadian export and did not come equipped with cats. The truck was then brought back and spent its time in Vegas. Someone bought a truck at that dealer and traded mine in. So since its new to CA it had to be refereed it passed and is now registered. What I'm worried about is next year when I go to smog it that they are going to fail me for no cats again. Dealer said cats were 2k for my truck
