Seems like a good day to revive an old thread...

Everyone here says "Bilsteins", but why? I'm facing the same decision right now :KYB AGXs or Bilsteins. They are roughly the same price, so I'm thinking about the AGXs because they are adjustable.

I have heard stories from guys about the rears on the AGX's blowing out. I went with billstein on my car. They're ok. I think my lowering springs are too aggressive though because my car rides extremely rough. It rides a lot rougher than it should so they might be blown.

I'm riding on the ls1 prokit with kyb agx in the front and soon to be in the rear. Over the stock decarbons it was a nice upgrade but I don't have anything to compare it to so works for me just fine. Next time I will be trying konis to see the difference so I can make comparisons for threads just like this.

I have no experience with the KYBs but I'm pretty happy with my Bilsteins.

Talked to strano about this. He said go with Bilsteins. Said the KYB's aren't really that adjustable and they can blow out at any time. I trust him so, I'd go billsteins.

Seems like Strano really is the go-to guy. I spent a good part of today doing some research and his name comes up the most often.

Must be something to be as smart as you lol... I drive 200 miles daily highway only the shocks don't really get much use. Monroe makes a Great shock. Bilstein is the shock of choice on THIS web site. Not saying there is anything wrong with them but.....If I can I will support MY Country first, We are the ones looking for work. Chew on that for a while.

KYB AGX's are 5 % firmer than stock on setting 1, stock on setting 2, and progressively more damping to 123% of stock on setting 8.

If you're into tinkering, I'd go with the KYB's.

If you want an all around nice performance oriented ride, go with the Bilsteins.

A few points:

1. Shocks work every foot of that 200 miles.

2. Monroe has some ok shocks, and some that suck. And Sensatrac's suck. Note I sell Monroe, KYB, Bilstein, Koni and Tokico all.

3. Supporting your country is great and all, but part of it is making something that's useful. I'd also point out that if you are driving a 4th gen F-body, then you are driving a car that was built in Canada, not the USA. So why aren't you driving a Mustang or a Corvette?

I'll add if you want a better quality, more durable shock, go with Bilstein's. Again, I sell both brands (and others). I'm not loyal to any one for any reason other that what works best for any given situation.
