Default Upper Shock Mount --- Where to buy?

Both of my Camaros have just over 50k and have been brutally coroded when I take my front coilovers off. On the last one, when I went to my QA1 setup I was able to salvage the upper shock mounts... But when I went to put my bilsteins and prokit on the driver this weekend I wasn't so lucky.

I've searched and searched and keep coming back to square one---

Where the hell can I buy quality upper shock mounts to bolt my new bilsteins to?

And what are some of your opinions about ways of preventing the corrosion?

Thanks guys!

Thats the only price I haven't checked yet. The Moog stuff from oriellys I think was just over $70 a piece and I found a KYB package for $120. What I was wondering was since this is obviously a factory design flaw if GM (or anyone else) has made one that has corrected the problem. Or is everyones correction just fill it with grease? Lol. If nothing else, that is what I'll do.

808, what was the brand of your parts? Was quality/fitment an issue?

I got mine from amazon last month. Something like $47 a side for moog.

As stated above, I filled the top cavity with grease. Use some marine grease if you have it.

Anti-seaze grease on the threads. Stay away from Gabriel mounts, had multiple failures with their parts in the past.

I agree with the grease and anti-sieze. However, with respect to the mounts, I wonder how many manufacturers actually make these parts anymore? Considering it wasn't what you'd call a "high volume" part, something made in the millions, I kind of think there's only one outfit doing them these days.

My OE GM parts were in good shape, but when I put shocks/springs in my car last year (1996 Z-28), I thought I'd install new parts "just because". I used Moog parts, because I work part time at Advance Auto Parts, and that's what we sell. They needed to be "massaged" a little, to get the studs and threaded inserts to line up correctly in the shock towers, but it only took about 15 minutes per side.

Better than paying well over $100 for "genuine GM parts", whatever they may be these days...

The MOOG parts you'd want are:

MOOG-K6516 - Driver's Side
MOOG-K6517 - Passenger Side

Found online for just over $72 each with free shipping here (with good pics):

Or Amazon for just over $54 with free shipping here:

I appreciate all the input fellas... and when I called my local GM dealership today they retail for $202...... a piece.

What a joke lol

I had pretty much decided on MOOG already... this just reinforced that idea.

Thanks again
