Lifted on fender tabs...
Hey guys,
Just got some work done on my tranny and I actually told the guys to make sure they lift on the frame rails.. Seems simple enough.. The guy was like "oh yeah definitely, I know how to lift cars". Well I get home and decide to take a look and yup they lifted on the fender tabs. They are bent outwards on the car. I'm going to take it back in the morning to show them. Is there any harm in getting them to bend them back? Like will it screw up the fenders or whatever? The fenders still appear to be aligned and everything. They don't look out of place.. I just want to get them back to normal.

Same thing happened to me I just drove up on a 2 x 4. For a little more room and un screwed it. Bent the plastic and metal tabs both back and screwed them back together.

Same thing, bend the tab back. The fender has a plastic tab attached to it and it is bolted to a metal tab underneath the car to keep the fender snug against the car. When they get bent the fender pops out like this.
I unscrewed them so it would be easier. Although some people bend them together.
The end result.

Yeah that definitely sucks that a shop did that. We see cars come in all the time with the same problem. You can just bend the tabs back and it will pull the fender back in for you. He might have lifted the car from the frame but depending on the arms on the lift, it won't have enough room before it hits those tabs. We have spacers for our lifts so the pads are on the frame well before any thing can touch the body of the car.

This is very common. The bottom of one of my fenders cracked due to improper jacking, I don't think many shops know where to lift. I show an shop that will be jacking my car where not to lift under the front fenders.
