Default ws6 exhaust

Hey whats up guys... have a 02 ws6 trans am with longtube headers, ory, and slp loudmouth catback and its a little too freaking abnoxiously loud, ive gotten pulled over 3 times for it and luckily never got a ticket for it....so i have my stock ws6 exhaust sitting in my attic and i wanted to know how much power would i loose if i reinstall my stock exhaust but instead of reinstalling it with the 2.75 i pipe ill have tmy exhust shop guy weld on a 3 in i pipe from the y pipe to the muffler? And how well does the stock ws6 muffler flow? And will it still be loud?

The stock muffler is probable one of the more restrictive parts of the exhaust system so you will be sacrificing some power if you put it back on. You could always just get an aftermarket muffler and kind of build your own catback.

Another option would be to install the factory exhaust and the add a cutout. So you can open it up when you need to yet keep it quiet when you want to

yes you will lose power, aprox 15hp or so. if it were me id put the stocker back on and get an electric cutout. im surprised to hear you say its too loud because i just did an install of that exact setup on my buddies car and its not that loud. my ws6 with a cam and magnaflow is louder than his. goodluck, if you were closer id be able to weld up your exhaust easily.

Yea i was kinda leaning towards the electric cutout right after my ory....because i was supposed to trade my friend my loudmouth catback for his slp dual dual exhaust...he wants louder and i want quieter...works out for both of us

If your trading for a SLP dual dual catback you won't loose any power. Those flow just as well as any other catback on the market. Only thing you would loose is the noise

Could try the loudmouth 2 resonator that's supposed to quiet the exhaust down. That prolly b the least expensive way to go.

Put the stock catback back on, but put a cutout where your current exhaust meets the stock catback. That way, it's quiet most of the time, but powerful when you need it.

Well I was running a 01 WS6 CB w/ a dynomax ultra flow muffler then went to a LM1 CB and actually noticed something...You'll be loosing a little, just swap a good quiter muffler (magnaflow, hooker) on to the stock CB to get some of the power lost back...Sell the LM1 system to offset the cost.

Put a moroso spiral flow in place of the LM bullet. There's an old thread with someone who did this and posted before and after videos. Plus I'm running headers + ORY through a spiral flow and I love the sound. And I don't think it's near as restrictive as some on the forum say it is.

I agree, LM2 would be cheap and are still a straight through desine so you will only loose a few HP if any.

My catted setup is much quieter than my buddys ORY at idle and crusing. WOT its probably 3/4ths as loud. It sounds real good and is very quiet when you need/want it to be.
