Drag Racing Tech - Ford 9 Inch Swap In '95 Z28 Questions

Hey, I couldn't really find what I was looking for from the search... I'll be putting a ford 9 in my 95 camaro and am wondering what others have done to do this. I'm looking to get just a used rear-end locally, put 4.56 ring and pinion in, as well as a 31 spline spool. My dad said we'll have some shaving to do, and the axles will need to be cut to fit the car. I'm assuming I need to send those out; who does this? We've got some welding and fab skills, so not too afraid to fab stuff up (will be making torque arm and mounts). If any other racers have suggestions, feel free to chime in. Thanks!

Well ya gotta fab spring mounts ,,,pan hard mount sock mounts ,,,T/A mount ...buy the end from strange or moser so you can use your stock brakes ,,,also gonna need a jig to put the ends on ...good luck ...check quick time ...for a housing already setup pretty cheap

Ok, thanks for the suggestions. Looks like I can get a moser bolt-in housing with axle package for just over 1k. Then I'd just need the center section...?

If the bolt in package uses your brakes, you should just need to add the third.
Driveshaft changes with the 9"?

I won't need the stock brakes, and making those mounts won't be too difficult because I can do MIG and TIG welding. Remember, this is a drag strip-only car. We can probably borrow a friends jig for the axles. As for the driveshaft, we'll probably have to get one made to fit and be strong enough.

Quick performance in Iowa makes a nice piece. Just about 1K. You can use the stock Camaro brakes also.

We'd rather build it up to save some dough, and for experience. Thanks though.

hey man, Where are you at in MN? I am in Sauk rapids, close to St. Cloud. I just put a 9 inch in my ta. It's not too hard to do but there may be some small road blocks along the way. Also pm sent.

Nice, is yours a street/strip car? We realize that, and are ready for the undertaking (my dad's been working on cars for a few years). Sent ya back!
