Default Gear Ratio Formula....

I know there is a way to calculate the gear ratio by counting the visible teeth, or something like that. Does anyone know/care to explain how? I'm trying to see if my SS still has the stock 3:42's or if they've been changed cause they're noisy and the car has some *****... TIA

number of ring gear teeth divided by number of pinion teeth=ratio

or

number of driveshaft turns to get one axle turn=ratio

or option codes GU2=2.73 GU5=3.23 GU6=3.42

My 14-Bolt had the gear ratio stamped in on the ring gear.
