Default Exhaust guru's step in....how is my setup?

Ok here is the planned setup for my 404ci w/ supervic, afr225, and not to wild pat g cam.

1 7/8 custom lt headers to 3.5" collector
3.5" piping for about 2.5ft with a cutout to a boom tube
3.5" to 2.5" reducer
2.5" dynomax superturbo mufflers[longer version]
then merged into the side of the boom tube

This is per side, i currently do not have a X or H installed. If i do, i will only have space for it post cutout pre boom tube, or possibly post muffler.

Starting to worry that 3.5" is overkill. I figure the reduction to 2.5" capped would be fine, but onces i uncap and bypass the 2.5" im going to loose too much torque. A little loss is acceptable since im overpowered and under-weighted, but too much is a NO NO.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but that sounds like a lot of stuff to try and fit under an f-body. As far the size I think 3" duals would be sufficient. The H or X placement needs to be closer to the headers than where you are talking about placing it for it to work best.

2.5" duals all the way back is plenty, its been proven over and over. Unless you are over 500RWHP, don't worry about it.

Engine should put out 500rwhp all motor+ 150-200 shot.

Here is a pic of the plan. The height of the oval tubing is 2.5 so i will merge into that with a custom merge.

Ok gotcha... looks like a slick setup! I see no problem with it being 2.5" through the mufflers with the cutouts closed since your purpose for that is to be quiet. The 2.5" tubing will help muffle it a little more too. As far as the pipes going to the boom tubes I think 3" would be plenty and may save you some room but if you already have it planned out for 3.5" I don't see it hurting hp/tq. too much. The 3.5" pipe will make it sound a little deeper.

I think you would be restricting that many cubes with those heads and nitrous with anything less than 3. I vote for 4.

I figured the same at first, but with a collector for 1 7/8 being 3.5" it lead me to believe i should stick to 3.5". Once i ordered the parts and held some 3.5" piping in my hand i nearly **** myself on how much bigger it was than i anticipated.

So you think i should run dual 4" pipes??? My concern was 3.5" was too big to begin with.

Reducing to a 3" would be fine if space is a problem. I'm just partial to the exhaust note of a larger pipe. I think the gains would be minimal.

I should be able to fit 3.5" as everything sits now. My original plan was cutouts directly post collectors, but i had major clearance issuse. The flange was 3" from the ground with 17" rims, and im going down to 16" and possibly a lower pro tire.

What is the setup for you 4" cutout? Is it a 4" off a Y pipe?

Here is a quick mock up pic, cutouts will be post X pipe instead of pre. It will allow the X pipe to work as an H while cutouts are closed.
