LS6 intake help please.
I am thinking about purchasing an LS6 intake for my 99 SS. I know my car has an EGR, and might have other crap that i am not aware of and my question is, what do I do with the EGR? Do i need to buy the EGR block off plates?
Please advise.

Normally id agree with the guy above... but your in CA.
I would recommend looking into the smog requirements for your state... ask other cali people what they have gotten away with and are still abe to pass smog.
I think your are required to keep them or you would have to pay for a 'special smog'. You might be better off getting an ls6 intake W/ the EGR option. They are a little more expensive, but could save you money in the long run.

i've been wondering the same thing.. with NY inspections you cannot have a check engline light on so i cant just take the egr stuff off because it would throw a code.. but someone told me you can have the code removed by hptuner, i would hope he meant removed for good or else it still wouldnt work. is this true?

The codes can be removed by and good tuner, you can either bring your car to them or you can send them your computer and they can remove the egr codes from the computer.
But this all depends on the emissions requirements in the state you live in, obviously if they have visual inspections, and then you may not get away with

yeah personally i put a block off plate on mine. but they have an adapter hose fitting that you can attach your egr to the new ls6 intake. you get a few more hp if you delete it but if you need it for inspection you might as well just get the adapter and make it work.

make your own block off plates .you can have the car inspected with the legal stuff, then remove the bad stuff and install the good stuff.keep the stock stuff for reinstallation.you can buy a slp ls6 intake or modifie the one you buy.you mite just consider a smog friendly cam ,that works with the stock emission stuff.
