Question Question for the pros?

I have a 01 WS6 with Jet Hot 1 3/4" long tubes, tsp ory, slp lid, k&n filter, 80mm tb, no muffler, JAAM air kit, frost mail order tune. So my question is what should my next mod be? I am planning a cam next year. What would be a good buy for another performance mod?

P&P tb? Are you auto or 6m? Stall if auto, gears if 6m.

I second that. That is what 99% of the users on here will say and for good reason. I still think the best mod was the 4.10 gear I installed. And that is saying alot as I have a gear, cam and Tick Master Cylinder. Well not that I think about it the Tick was the best mod but the gear gave a great performance feel for alot less than the cam. I bought a used gear on her for $60 and a master install kit for $75. For a total of $135 and a few hours of my time I think it was the best.

yea the tb is p&p and its an m6. I was thinking 3.73's as it is still my dd and i cant just toss milage out the window. Would they weaken the stock 10 bolt though?

I was thinking the same thing but the 4.10 really is a better combination and will not loose much if any of gas mileage. I have stock Ws6 wheels and tires, at 70 mph the engine is dead nuts at 2,000 rpm. I drove my car without the cam from Detroit back to Orlando and averaged 26.8 Mpg. Call B.S. if you want but I have the pictures of the fuel slips and mileage. My tune probably helped but it wasnt set to be very conservative. I really havent noticed any fuel mileage decrease at all with the 4.10 so if that is your worry I'm sure someone else will second me and tell you to not worry about that.

However; you are correct they are not as strong of a gear as a 3.42 or 3.73 based on the diamater of the pinion head the ring gear is thinner and the teeth are not as smaller hence weaker. Look at a picture of a 3.08 then compare it to a 4.10 - youll see what I'm refering to. Like I said I bought used gears here and made sure they were Orginal GM gears - those seem to be stronger and quiter then aftermarket such as Motive. GM put them in almost all the 4 cyl s-10s so they are rather popular.

Hope this helps. I say go for the 4.10s and just dont beat on it too much i.e 3,000 rpm clutch drops, etc. Oh I have done about a dozen donuts and burnouts and havent had any problems along with about 5 passes at the track where I didnt hold back.

Sorry to ramble on but its 12:48 Am my time and I cant sleep......we know how that goes
