Can I drive my car (new AES block) w/old tune?
Just wondering if I can drive my new setup (AES 390, D-1) with my old tune and 60 lbs injectors while I break in my new monster clutch and new motor. I will not be getting into boost, but I realize I need to get a few miles in the motor/clutch before the dyno tune. My old tune was pushing 500+ to the wheels and was pig rich on the D-1. Any help appreciated.

Hey man this is Justinlq9. I would get frost to touch it up first man. I know it's a little cash, but would hate to see you mess that nice new block up man. After that get the dyne tune. Can't wait to see them numbers!

No one can say with out knowing your old motor specs and new specs and how good your old tune was. If it were me I wouldn't want to drive a new motor that wasn't tuned correctly even if your staying out of boost, not a good way to break in a new motor running to rich or to lean.

Justin, what's going on! Hope everything is well in California, wish j would have got to meet u while you were still in El Paso, anyway I guess my question now is, is my tune good enough to startup my motor, simce it does not look like I'll be driving it. This is still with my factory returnless setup 60 lbs injectors and boost a pump. I still need to install my lonnies double pump complete fuel system with 80 lb injectors. I just need to start her to see if there's any fuel leaks or vacuum leaks.

It would be better to take it to the tuner to give it at least a base tune so you can drive it without too much or too little fuel.
That way you can break it in and fine tune later for WOT

I would not be asking this question if the tuner was even two ours away, the closest is 9 1/2 hours in Dallas, TX. That is why I've been asking not so I can get a yes out of someone. I asked again if I can turn the car on (idle) and check for fuel/leaks before I take it to the tuner.

Mail your PCM to them and let them get you set up with one.

I just got my 390 running and have about 300miles on it. I took my 5.3 tune and adjusted it for the 6.4. I ended up adding about 15-25% fuel and a whole ton of timing all over to get it responsive out of boost.
I wouldn't run it with a tune from a much smaller engine, you will likely run lean and run into some issues.

Damn, if all you want to do is idle, hell yes. start it up. you should be able to get it up to temp enough to drop the first oil change. what are your plans for a tune after this? i think most tuners charge 150.00 for a safe start up tune to get you to the dyno. then credit it back towards the dyno tune. come on man an LC-1 wide band is super cheap to keep an eye on things.
