what are the physical differences between a Regal and a GNX?
thinking about picking up a Regal and throwing a 5.3 Turbo in it, so beside the fender vents, spoiler, hood and being completely black, are their any other differences?

aside from the wheels you got it, they were almost the same except some cosmetics the biggets difference was power/performance wich in your case dosent matter since you are putting in a 5.3 go to turbobuicks.com and you will find everything you need to make a clone gnx wont be too expensive

Didn't the GNX also have a ladderbar looking torque arm set-up and no upper control arms to help plant the power?

They also had a brace behind the rear seat to box in the rear half of the car for strength.

Differences.
Suspension, gnx badges, fender flares, mechanical gauges, 55rwhp more, ceramic wheels for the turbo, bigger tires, a little more aggressive tune, about 2 more psi over the GN, transmission cooler and only 547 made in 1987, you couldn't touch a low mileage one for less than 60k plus.. there were over 22k gn's made in 87, I happen to own a 1987 Turbo T, only 1,347 made in 87 with only 16k miles on the clock, lightweight and faster than the GN in stock form.

Love it or hate it: its still awesome. 6 speed GN
5.3 Turbo in a GN
Based on your goals, your are better off sticking with the LC2 turbo V6.
The LC2 will take 600hp reliably with the right build/tune.
However, if you are dead set on the swap, you are better off buying a black NA Regal, instead of a GN, to put a V8 in.
