Default Service Engine Soon

I have a 2001 formula with 24K miles. After driving around 250 miles yesterday the service engine soon light came on and is still on. The only thing I noticed, is the fuel filters I installed in my PCV line to reduce oil consumption. They where caved in, as if there was a strong vacuum inside the filters. Does anyone have any ideas?

The fuel filters probly got clogged and stopped any air flow which pressurizes the engine.I'm not a fan of running any kind of filter in the PCV system.A catch can is a better idea.

Thanks for the reply. Would that cause any engine damage? If I remove fuel filters and on the PVC line will the Service Engine light go out or do I need to bring the car in to a Dealer?
