Smile Just bought a Firebird

First things first. Its a V6...But hi my names Jake and im 17 gonna be 18 next month. Just bought myself a firebird yesterday. The car is really nice and clean..it has been taken care of. The engine runs real smooth. I really wanted and still want a LS1 car, but i started to realise that 7.65 an hour at McDonald's aint gonna cut it if i want to be able to drive it. But the 3.8 is quite an upgrade from the 2.0 zetec i had in my first car, a 2002 ford zx2. I didnt like that car too much but that engine which had 149k miles was a trooper..i beat the hell outta that thing and she always started next day. w/o a complaint.
Its Automatic, 71,700 miles. It is bone stock besides a K&N re-usable air filter under the stock lid. I plan to keep it that way. No mods because a V6 just dont sound the same so I'll keep it quiet. A couple things the previous owner had done with receipts to prove...
At 48k he had a new set of lifters put in. Along with all new VC gaskets and both Intake mani gaskets. Im just curious..is it common for lifters to go that early? He also had the trans flushed, oil flushed, and coolant flushed. He had a history of the oil changes and always mobil 1 10w-30 and changed it every 3 months...he took care of it.

Im gonna try and not abuse this too much. And i will keep up on maintnence. Even on my escort while i beat it alot i changed the oil 3 times in the year i owned it. I have heard mixed things about 3800s. Some are duds, and blow head gaskets at 100k, others are bulletproof and go 250k. Im leaving it stock so what should i expect?
Thanks

Hi, welcome to ls1tech. Congrats on the bird, post some pics!
Its all on the how well you take care of the car, ive heard 3800s are pretty strong engines. It should last a good while if you care for it.

Gut the muffler, and they sound pretty good. Guy I raced awhile back had one like that.
