Default Looking for the LS2 Cam gurus

I know this question has come up 1023412 times.

I am pretty set on cams(Texas Speed Torquer V2) unless someone is pretty adament about me changing it with good reasons. I want power without the lopey idle.

But what length push rods are needed?

What is the need for a dual valve spring kit?

Just get yourself the patriot gold dual kit, and stock length 7.400 pushrods should be fine... I used 7.425's in mine to tighten things up a tad to make the valve train quieter. If you're gonna spend the money on a cam, you might as well go custom... I really like EPS's 230/234 113+2 cam, I'll be swapping soon. I like my cam, but I want a lil more on the top. The 113 doesn't lope or chop, but has a nice eat to it, perfect if u ask me.

Why wouldnt I want a quieter valvetrain? Whats the draw back of using the 7.425?

Why the ECS cam over the torquer 2?

Which makes more power more reliably with less negative effects?

Whyt he patriot duals over say Comp singles? I am not going huge lift on the cams.

I'm not sure with the ramp rates of the XER lobes if you can use the 7.425's but I know EPS and PatG reccommend them to a certain point.

EPS over off the shelf because it seems to be the latest in lobe design on the market and EVERYONE running Geoff's cams have had great results. Look at my cam size and my power... That's pretty damn good.

The EPS lobes run higher lift due to the design of the lobe, they're easi(er) on springs and carry power out nicely.

Dual springs because, why not? Lol if for some reason u had a spring let go on you, you'd have that back up spring in there to hold the closed.

Call Geoff at EPS, and ask away... Nice guy too!

I was looking at the T2 cam as well, had the oringal T1 in my old LS1 WS6 years ago, made killer power with it and it drove just fine even with a Spec 3 clutch. My old WS6 made 415/395 and 555/630 with a 150 shot So I would be the new T2 would love the spray as well.

I would suggest not goign with patriot golds, they are titanium retainers but the size and weight totally diminishes the fact that they are titanium. I would call EPS and have him spec one out and get his complete kit for 850 with dual springs.

Are you still doign heads? That will play a HUGE role in what cam you need to pick. ANd PR length depends on the cam.

This...

Depending on what you want to do next, sound determine the cam you use. you want to match the cam with the heads or F/I set up you want. you dont want to buy a cam just to see that you need a different one for the Heads you buy or F/I Kit.

If you are stuck on the T2 why not get the supporting parts from the guys that make that cam...i'd give Texas Speed a call 806-866-0734. My cam my shop's custom grind, but all the other goodies are from Texas Speed.

That btw is the exact deal I have been eyeing.

Question is pushrod length and which LSA? I dont care about the sound as much as performance... Id rather have the most power witht he least amount of change in exhaust noise.

Also will the spring tool for a single spring work with duals?

Call them!!! Tell them exactly what you want regarding power, sound, lope etc. and they will tell you EXACTLY what you need.

Research dyno graphs before you make your purchase. Look at torque curves and where power is made. It really does make a difference on the street. I know guys with big cams are having good results at the track, but do u really want to drive around a gutless car under 2,500 when daily driving? I don't... Tq is fun. Here's my little cam's dyno sheet. Mods in sig.

i dont understand it enough... But I would rather make MORE power and have it come on a little later... I dont want all top end but would rather the gains be more in the mid to top end if they are great gains...

Obviously a cam that made the same power mid/top and also had the low end as well would be IDEAL. But since i dont think that is possible... well id rather have more top end.

Mine pulls nicely to 6,700.

Like I said earlier, I want to switch to a 230/234 on a 111.

Sounds aweful close to the Torquer2.. 232/234 and you can get it at 111 but they suggest 112.
