Wheel spin at launch. Hello,
I am wondering how much wheel spin through an A4 with 3:42 gears would be considered normal? The previous owner swapped out the rear, thus explaining why my A4 has the 3:42 ratio. I am also running 275/40 17's on all four wheels. If I punch it from a dead stop without power braking, both tires will lite up through 3 gears. I do not know if this will continue through 4th because all I can see is my tires $$$ going up in smoke. I do however have a crate LS6 long block with JBA shorties (California). I believe the stall is stock as well as the suspension via the previous owner. This is my first LS series car to own or drive, so I really did not know what to expect.

doesnt sound like the stock stall if its doing that though :\ Stock stall is a pig down low.
I still have yet to dead hook my stall 2 years after installing it.

This is what I was wondering myself. The previous owner purchased the car new and did state the suspension and trans were stock. The car idle's at 500rpm while the car is in gear and wants to pull like a bull at this rpm. I have never owned an auto that idle's at 500rpm let alone wanting at that speed. I also did not understand a previous post that called me a "ricer", but yes I do eat quite a bit of steamed white rice....

well if it pulls down low it might not be stalled. stalls feel like they are slipping until the stall speed. say 4k rpm for a 4000 stall. so no low rpm power for a stall. but the fact that you can pretty much instantly go to 4k is why a stall spins tires.
If you know what your looking at, you can remove the starter cover and you can tell a stock stall from an aftermarket stall by the size. aftermarkets are 9.5 inches and stock is 12. plus aftermarket stalls are usually painted.
