Default Another help me build post

I have a 95 Z28 6 speed I have owned for 14 years now and finally decided its time to put some money into it. It has 110k miles on it, the engine has been good and I have been good to it... There is a small leak from the timing chain but that is common. The engine has never given me any problems and still runs strong today. I would like to get around 450hp out of it or more but still want it to be a reliable car which means no short cuts like N2o. I have about 3000$ for parts alone then I will worry about the mechanics fees. Also, if suggested I have no problem just building up more parts to get the desired results.

Let me start with a list of things I have done to it over the years.

-Moroso cold air intake
-throttle body air foil
-B&M ripper shifter
-Eldelbrock headers and cat back system with cat combed out (I like the sound over other exhaust Ive heard)
-under drive pulleys
-4.10 gear (was a bit more than i shouldve got but its staying on)

I know I need a good set of heads and a cam but I will admit I am not mechanic. I have no idea what is best for the stock engine I have and my goals. So if you have a link to that exact part it would be much appreciated. Any other suggestions for upgrades would be great. Please help a mechanically challenged guy out.

This is a work in progress type thing, if more needs to be done then I will do what it takes. I was planning on staying with stock bottom for now.

Then for the top end call Advanced Induction or Lloyd Elliott and tell them your goals and they will custom grind a cam for you and have matching heads for that cam

Thumbs up

After doing a little more research I have decided to contact LE. From everything I have read about his work the LE2 heads/cam combo is the best bang for the buck for what I am running and my goals. Thanks

I was leaning towards the 232/240 cam or 224/230. 224/230 seems to be the more reliable of the 2.

450hp out of the motor isnt hard to do, so your inluck there. 450rwhp, thats a lil different!

If you have the money, id call LE or A/I like stated. But id do it differently. Im not the type of person who likes to do what everyone does. So i would ask them if they have anything they want to try out thats different, heres their chance lol. Thats just me though, Stage 2 LE H/C cars have been done befor, A/I cars have been done befor. What goes along with this isnt a bad thing, its proven to work. But you then get thrown into the same colum as other cars.

I love to see things that are different, and chances are good that youll end up with close to the same power levels, but it will be slightly different then the rest of the crowd.

If I had the money to play around with I would like to do that. Ive never had a big budget to mess with so I have to take the route many others have gone. I know the cost wouldnt be any different, its the chance something else would go wrong.
