2004 GTO no power with new battery

Default 2004 GTO no power with new battery

Last week sometime i noticed the car was having some trouble starting and then cranked up. So a day after its totally dead.I replaced the battery and only heard fast clicks...then the radio lights and everything was dead again with the new battery so im obviously missing something.Any help would be greatly appreciated

Check any major grounds....but the new battery rules out a bad alternator, unless the battery was dead when you picked it up.


Try jumping the car, if it loses voltage and dies, then its the alt, if not its a ground or wire somewhere.

I am absolutely the WORST electronics expert, but it could be the starter...that may actually fit the symptoms better.

I would think ground too, make sure the battery posts are making good connection.

I would double check all the battery cables. The main power to the starter, and the main ground points. Look for any rust or corrosion or to see if they simply came loose.

Won't be the starter, or else the accessories wouldn't be suffering either. There's a connection loose somewhere. I guess the battery could be bad too-have it checked but I doubt it. I bet it's a ground...

thanks for all the help guys i need to check all the grounds today and see whats going on....and going to check the battery as well.

i do believe if you can get it to start and pull the positive off the battery and the car dies its you alternator and make sure you scuff up the post to to get a good connection.....always take it to the parts store and they can test uor battery and alternator

i checked the main fuse under the hood and it was blown...but the battery is pretty dead
