Well if the security light is on it might just be the VATS unless you have bypassed it. Everything else will work and it wont even try to crank

If you have a bad alternator it could have killed the battery. Need to get the car runnig to check it though. Get jumped off, if it starts then youve got a weak/dead battery, check your volt guage, if its low you need an alternator.

but check your cables first

guys, im sorry for keep asking question, my car is not ok, so im kinda not myself atm.

I did a search and some say LT4 starter is better then LT1 and some how cheaper. some say using starter of a 96 vet LT4

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...539216788____#

is this the right one, and that 96 lt4 vet starter will bolt right in my 97 camaro z28 6 speed ? thanks

Try the obvious things first.
Disconnect the battery and connect the terminals on the battery & the terminals on the cables.
Reattach the battery cables and make sure they're TIGHT and making a GOOD connection.
Try starting the car. If it doesn't start, try it with a different battery, or by getting a jump start from another car.
If still nothing, I would tow it home, rather than doing the repairs in the gas station parking spot. Get an OHM meter and check down the wires to see if there is power throughout.
Check all of this stuff before you spend any money playing the guessing game.

It's not very smart to get to the car with only the one or two tools you'll need. I suggest you take a good set of tools, drop light, moving blanket or cardboard to lay on, a good jack....

I would also suggest you not try this alone.

How about roll starting it? If it is infact the starter, it will still start.

By roll starting bud I mean have the key on the on position, the car rolling about 20-25mph and poping the clutch in 1st or 2nd. If it starts then its probably your starter, if not then you have other problems.
