Default t rex + fast 92 results

did a buddies car today, 02 SS

fast 92/92, t rex, longtubes, LM1, 9in with 4.30 gear 6 speed/

421/380.

I sorta expected more, but it was 94 outside and 115 in the shop. I wonder how much the 4.30'd 9in is taking. The injectors are at 92% too.

I bet that thing is anything but quiet.

Rear end and tires are probably chewin up some ponies. Where'd you end up with timing?

Sometimes that can be attributed to higher altitudes. But, Nashville is only 500~1000ft above sea level. So, it's probably just the setup. As long as it was still making power as you were adding timing...I'm with you and say stay with it. Just make sure the PCM has room to pull a few degrees if the knock sensors do pick up any noise.

Car sounds good at idle...but I'd confidently say it's a little rich at idle though if the WBO2 is reading 14.7. The reason for that is, the current version of the T Rex cam (v.2) has 25 degrees of overlap. Even if you're running v.1, the overlap has got to be up there. So, you're bound to have some unburnt oxygen making its way into the exhaust. If you're running closed loop, there's not going to be much you can do about it. Otherwise, I'd lean it out a good bit.

As an example, my 240/244 setup with 18 degrees of overlap seems to idle right around 17.5.

Considering he was on the same heads, an unported 92/92 (virtually the same), in a shop with 115* temps, and on a different dyno (not all dynos are the same)....I'd say the 11 more hp he made is in the ballpark. JMO...

basically I went off the sound..the old school way. It just happened to run in between 14.7-15.5, you could tell when it was lean it wasnt hitting right, the ol rump rump rump instead of rumpity rump rump rumpity all changing sounds...haha if you know what I mean. It was a bear to make it start up and idle good on its own. You know sometimes you can load up your usual and roll out, but this one took a few hours of playing...everything always runs different when you put a bigass cam in. I did put about 100 miles on it and got 19mpg including about 7 dyno pulls and some spirited pulls on the road. I was happy
