Default Automatic to Manual Transmission Swap

Hello, I'm looking to do a transmission swap from my 4L60E transmission to the stock 6 speed that came with it. I know it entails a different wiring harness and pedals but not sure on how to go about everything and the exact parts I'd need. Has anyone ever done it that could give me some tips or a parts list or a how to guide?

Thanks for the help!

The lt1 t56 will not work with an ls1 unless you change the front plate and input shaft and use the correct bell housing

not all t56's are the same. Your best bet is to find one out of a 98-02 though a 99+ would be better.

Indeed. The newer ones had better hydraulic systems, which = less bad parts.

Craigslist or here is your best bet. But, like everyone else, you'll have to jump on it cause they go QUICK! i've been lucky enough to find two locally. (don't count on it) and of course there's ebay, but that's usually overpriced, and just as big of a gamble. Tick Performance, or D&D are my go-tos for parts, and they sell t56s as well

Yeah, when I got mine I knew I was just gonna turn around and send it straight to tick for some work. I should have had them source me a transmission for $1k then do the work on it .Even if it needed extra work it would have been cheaper in the long run. But I was impatient and wanted to get started sooner rather than wait up to a month.

I've never had any real luck with craigslist, but it seems about every 3 or to 5 days a t56 for ls1's shows up on the parts classified on here.
