Default Need help from TCI ssf3500 users

I've got a 98 Trans Am and just installed a 3500 stall convertor from TCI and my shifts are really soft and it acts like does'nt want to shift into third. At full throttle it goes to the rev limiter in second. It seems to need to have the tranny tuned to shift earlier? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I haven't installed mine yet, but I know you do have to adjust your shift points and stuff....

Make sure the tranny is 100% full of tranny fluid, what you describe about hitting the limiter it sounds like it may be low on fluid, as for the mushy shifts thats part of having a convertor, it makes it feel like you are driving a caddy, I also have a SSF 3500 and it is a great convertor for the price.

Yeah i experienced the same thing before the converter, eventually i had to rebuild the tranny. Now with the converter and rebuilt tranny sometimes it still hits the rev limiter on the 2nd to 3rd shift. I think thats just all part of having the beloved 4L60E. It really doesnt have anything to do with the TCI3500.

Some people have to change shift points some dont. I didnt have to. I never hit the limiter. You shifts will feel mushy but you will get used to it. You can always get a shift kit to firm them up.I would give the car some time and see if it shifts better before you change anything. Just check your fluid level everytime you drive it for the first 200 miles.
