How do you remove the 4L60E dipsick tube?

Default How do you remove the 4L60E dipsick tube?

I am having hell getting the dipstick tube out. Is there a trick to it or am I just being a dumbass? Thanks.

Mine would not come out untill i dropped the tranny, then it had too. I had a hard time with it. The problem is it hits under the firewall before it pulls out. I put a long extension under it and hit it with a hammer and it came out.If your car is on jackstands, stand on a milk crate or something while your doing it.

The tranny is out of the car. I had it on stands, but I don't now. I just didn't want to pull to hard for fear that I would damage something else, like the rear coil pack or something. I'll try hammering from the bottom. I'm putting a TH400 in, and I plan on getting a Madman dipstick & tube. Will it be just as hard to put in as this one has been to get out?

There is a 15mm bolt that holds it to the back of the head.

John, thanks for the tip. Although, I've already removed that bolt. Cutting it is beginning to sound like a good option right now. Thanks for the replies.
