Default 1998 gauge cluster Q

Will a 1999-02 Z gauge cluster work in a 1998 Z?

The pinouts are different. And a 98 gauge cluster won't work in a 97 either, even though alldatadiy.com says the pinouts are the same. They Are NOT!!! (i tried that, and the oil pressure gauge bounced back and forth instead of my blinkers).

To make them work would be an insane amount of work...unless you liek being upside down and playing with wires
