Default 4L80e Direct clutch pack

I am currently running a stock 4L80e with HD-2 shift kit in my 05 GTO. I am making around 700rwhp. I am on my second "stock" 4L80e and these things can take a beating but the direct clutches do not seem to like me. Is their any tricks to making these live under power other then dual feeding them?

I am going to tear my last 4L80e apart and just replace the directs, should I replace them with stock frictions or something else?

I don't know if its the stock frictions that can not hold the power or the lack of the directs being dual feed in whatever I have pulled the used trans out of. They seem to last a few thousand then start to slip on apply. Once they are applied they seem to be ok.

You need to dual feed the directs.

The HD2 kit does the dual feed for you. We don't use it on our builds though.
The stock frictions and stock count will live @ 1000 HP.

It must just be the life the trans had before me then. I will just put a set of stock frictions back in then.

At your power level you are overcoming the limits of the HD2 kit, even though it dual feeds. We do other mods to the circuits to keep the clutches alive. Dual feed is just one part of the recipe.

I would rather just purchase one of your built transmissions but their is no way i am going to be able to afford a purchase like that for a while. If you or someone are willing to throw me some tips to keep the directs alive it would be very appreciated. I am going to start tearing into my last 4L80e to see what i need.

are you using used trans-most were in heavy trucks that got a lot of abuse,
seems the cores i have bought the directs were pretty well used up, so a fresh rebuild would be fine, bushings, seals def help
