User Support & Resources - Got 2 infractions, have some questions...

So like a few others, I got infraction points for posting in the negative trader feedback section, specifically this thread.

I honestly was not aware of the rules and am not claiming my ignorance as a defense, I just have an issue with how things were handled.

I was given my first infraction on the 8th, the day after I made both posts in that thread. After receiving it, I reread the rules and subsequently stopped posting. Two days later, on the 10th, I received another infraction for the second post I made. That struck me as being a little unfair, and honestly pissed me off a little bit. I sent the mod that gave them to me a PM yesterday and haven't heard back (he may not have been on since then). I feel like that was some sort of double jeopardy.

So this got me thinking...why does the negative feedback section even exist? If only the buyer and seller are supposed to be talking to each other why not keep it to PM's? I'm sure someone will say 'it's there for members to know who not to buy from blah blah blah'. But that's the entire purpose of the trader rating system so why keep a section open to everyone if everyone isn't allowed to post in it and if they do they get in trouble? It seems like a giant pitfall.

So this got me thinking...why does the negative feedback section even exist? If only the buyer and seller are supposed to be talking to each other why not keep it to PM's? The trader rating system doesn't allow for very much text to be written. Posting a new thread in the negative feedback section allows for a first party account of the entire situation, with full details. It also gives the other party a chance (and the text space) to give a complete rebuttal. The small notes that can be attached to the Itrader system are rarely enough to give a complete picture when there are complications.

Having this section allows people to search the complete details of these problematic transactions.
