i was driving down the road in my 1999 trans am it quit and will not start back the fuel pump still pumps and ideals on what it could be thanks

I would verify that you have the correct fuel pressure at the rail and then verify that you actually have spark. Try to determine if it is spark or fuel related. A shorted injector would not allow fuel to enter that cylinder even if you have good fuel psi at the rail. If it will run on ether (starting fluid) you then know it is fuel related. Check ecm for stored or current codes. That should help narrow it down.
