Default Cutouts

I am thinking about putting a cutout on my car. I have heard it adds dome performane for the track, but there are a few choices to choose from and I am needing some advice.

My first question is dual cutouts vs. a single cutout? Are there advantages and disadvantages for either way?

My second question is bolt on plates or electric? I know that electric cutouts are quite expensive compared to the bolt on style. I don't mind getting under the car and unbolting plates, but is the convenience of the electric cutouts worth the extra money?

My last question is what kind of performance can I expect to gain from these?

Thank you for the help!

not sure about the hp gains but i personaly hate crawling under to uncap them. Im saving for electric ones. Not sure about the one or two either but move the twards the back a little, it will give you a better tone IMO.

I would definitely get the electric ones, it is just better overall for the convince of opening and closing whenever you want. The performance gains will be minimal if you already have a good flowing exhaust. You wont feel that much of a difference if any.

The electric one seems to leak after a while. Not much performance gain on a stock engine but with some mods its pretty nice

With Pace LTS, ORY and Magnaflow catback I gained 6rwhp and 6rwt with mine open. I have seen them gain as much as 40 rwhp but that was with stock exhaust outback.

That is my same setup. Did you just run 1 or did you do dual cutouts?

Electric is much better. A lot of times driving around you want to open and close it. It's nice being able to do that.

i installed mine a few weeks ago and i love it.
i got the electric one, and as said, the convenience is amazing. cruising along in a chill mood when a wild hot chick appears, press a button and let it purr.

i mounted mine a little further back, about where the rear seats are.

not sure about performance, i have a pretty free flowing exhaust though i'm sure i gained at least something, havent been to a dyno.

Yeah, I'm getting an electric for that reason. I figure I'll leave it colsed most of the time, then open it up every once in a while for fun. You know, while going under bridges, or for scaring pedestrians that are trying to cut in front of me.

Oh, and also for throwing revs at fart cans or loud *** Harley riders...although they probably won't hear it, I don't know how those guys aren't all deaf from the racket those things make. I mean I like loud stuff too, but most of those are just obnoxious.

As far as the cutout itself, the QTP is a good deal. I got mine for 45 bucks or so, and it's stainless and really well made. There were some reg steel cutouts on the same site for abotu the same price. You can never go wrong with stainless IMO.

And Summit has the electric opener on sale for $116.

I definitely recommend getting a single electric cut-out. No need for duals with your mods. Just put it as far back as possible but before the muffler i.e. right underneath the Rear Passenger seat. There's a perfect spot for it. It will rumble like hell at idle and be loud as fack at WOT. You won't be dissapointed =)

I had a cutout on my trans am and had it dynoed with and with out it. I gained 1 hp and 3Lb ft of tq. Not alot of gain but it sounded awesome. I had a forged 347- kooks 1-7/8- kooks ypipe and a corsa catback. I was happy with the outcome as it let me know that my full exhaust was free flowing. The people gaining 10-15rwhp have a really restricting exhaust.
