Default ls6 vs ls1 headers?

hey guys i have a question, my cousin has a ls6 vette and he was lookin for headers for it. im wondering since the blocks are fairly similar cant you just use ls1 LTs? i know the ls6 has the 243 heads on it and that is different from the (853, 241) on ls1 blocks but then if you put 243s on an ls1 block do you have to change the headers also?

The blocks and heads are the same, it's the rest of the car that's different. I wouldn't try puttin headers for an fbody on a vette or via versa, someone else should chime in soon

The headers have to clear the chassis/k-member which are very different between F-car and Y-car.

okay that makes sense, so they are the same but just structurally different

I thought your question was pertaining more to the exhaust port shape. Your opening post does not say you wanted to swap headers between the Corvette and the Camaro.

LS1 heads have oval shaped exhaust ports.

LS6 heads have D shaped ports.

I do not think header manufacturers have different port flanges available. They should all accommodate the largest ports.

My stock LS6 heads did have the D shaped exhaust ports, but the header openings are round. All CNC ported stock, & my aftermarket heads have round exhaust ports due to greater flow rates of a round port over the D shape. However, I guarantee my corvette headers will not bolt onto an F-body due to the different suspension set up's & k-member locations.

There's no way a F-Body header will fit a Corvette.

Corvette headers will not fit an F-body and vise versa. LS1 and LS6 use the exact same headers.
Now (for informational purposes) the stock LS1 exhaust manifolds differ from LS6 exhaust manifolds.

Headers are car specific. Not block specific.
