Default Stereo not playing music???

I have a pioneer DEH-p410ub head unit and new speakers. My car was sitting for about a week without being driven and when i went to drive it again the stereo was out. The unit still displays and plays tracks through radio, mp3, and cd but there is no music playing. The speakers are still playing but there is no music. Is the pioneer unit dead or the amplifier out inside the unit?

Check speaker connections at speakers and back of the unit. Loose? Crossed?
Is your volume up? Maybe it's faded or balanced on a speaker that has bad connection.
