Default 3600 stall

ok so i just bought a 3600 yank for my 99 t/a . i call a guy to ask how much he would charge to put it in and he said he wont because i dont need it unless i have a bigger cam. Is this true? What would be the pros an cons i would have if i have it with a stock cam in my ls1? any advise appreciated. thanks

That guy is an idiot.

The stall will make more difference in performance of a ls1 car than the cam would. Find a better shop.

You will gain at least .5 in the 1/8th mile and likely more in the 1/4 (assuming you put good tires on the car).

Don't let him work on your car, his knowledge is limiter.

A converter is THE mod for an auto... Whether it is BONE stock and a 4400 converter or a 408 stroker making 500Rwhp NA and spraying a 200 hit.

Yeah stalls are pretty wicked - prepare yourself for all that power converted at once to the wheels, night and day difference.

Also prepare for your passengers to ask you why your car is so slow but makes so much noise... Until you hammer down that is

Don't let that moron work on your car. Take it to a more reputable shop that knows what the hell they're doing/talking about. Unless you're capable of doing it yourself which isn't too much of a challenge. There is a plethora of information here so use the search button to your hearts desire. IMO - a stall is the best performance mod on an otherwise stock LS1.

I have heard horror stories about stalls and how it can really dick things up. Is that true? Sorry this might be a really stupid thing to ask.
