Not sure exactly what you're hoping it will help with?

Power/performance = No.

Better charging (for folks with upgraded stereo/sub combo or for just charging in general) = Yes.

My first otima red top lasted 6 weeks of winter then two cells died. Full warranty, second one seems to be holding.

on a vehicle with no electrical upgrades its not necessary to spend alot of money on a H.O. battery.

I hear that Optima's quality has really gone down recently. I use a red top in one of my cars, but it's at least 3 years old...it works great.

The only "performance" advantage a battery can give you is a reduction in weight.

I don't know what a niddle is, but you could have an old, failing battery or an old, failing alternator.

^^^ +1

my blue top is about 2 years old and its going strong. They do have nice perks like being spill proof, and vibration resistance.

Also mine has never corroded, started in freezing temperatures, & 100+ temperatures

I might be lucky tho since i hear alot of bad stories about faulty optima batteries, my battery is about 2 years old i think.

If i'm not mistaken, the red top should have a 5 year warranty on it.

36 months free replacement..

36 months pro-rated replacement..

*If* I am lucky enough to find my receipt.. Gonna go by AutoZone today and see if they'll pro-rate it without the receipt..

Just save yourself a lot of money and frustration and get a regular battery. Optimas are not all that reliable and it seems silly that spending that much on a battery just to replace it every 1-2 years when you can get 1 regular battery for much less that will last 3x longer.

I have to disagree with this now that I just went through hell in this exact situation. I bought a Bosch battery for around $100. I had charging issues and the car wouldn't start half the time and I was getting stuck everywhere. I returned it and got a new one at no extra charge. Same exact problem. Those Bosch batteries are complete garbage. I was fed up at that point and just laid out the money for an Optima Red Top which I should have just done in the first place. Not a single problem since with about 2,000 miles on the battery. Both Bosch's lasted less than 500 miles each.

My optima is awesome. I left my light on once and drained the battery dead. I let it sit for about an hour and since it is a deep cycle battery it started back up after sitting for a moment to allow itself to get enough of a charge to start.

I have mine mounted in the trunk area with a battery cutoff under the license plate.

BTW mine is a Red-Top.

I paid $130 for my Optima; the Die Hard was something like $120. Didn't price Interstate. $150 (current price of a Red Top) is still only slightly more expensive than a decent non-AGM battery.

Not a single problem with my Red Top, and it's been recharged from the dead twice with no issues.

Something to note: the red tops aren't true deep-cycle batteries, the yellow-tops are automotive deep-cycle, and the blue are marine deep-cycle. The reds are standard "starter" batteries.
