Default Third brake light tinted illegal in Florida?

Hey guys, ive been thinking about tinting my third brake light on my `02 WS6, but i wanted to know if anyone is running a tinted third brake light and if you guys had any problems with the cops here in Florida. I tried to somewhat search for the laws about the third brake lights, but all i could find were laws that state you had to have one in general, i see guys running around with tinted tail lights all the time, so its only fair to see if i can tint the third brake light. So, before i go ahead and do it, i just wanted to see if anyone had any personal experience on this. Thanks!

You will get a ticket sooner or later. I had mine blacked out for awhile till I got a warngin, so I redid the setup and put 2 1 1/2 inch strips down the middle and te rest black. And haven't had a problem. But them again my car has been off the road for almost a yr so who knows lol.

Yea your right, its not worth the chance. I really dont want any unwanted attention because of my blacked out third brake light. Im still waiting for a cop to pull me over for my tinted side marker lights, but i doubt that will happen. Thanks a lot Trevor.j !!

I never got hit on my marker lights. Just my brake lights, and 3rd light. But most cops here in orlando are to worried about stolen Hondas or H.I.D. Tickets

ive never gotten even the slightest warning about ym tailights being blacked out. and they are dark and have been tinted for like 3 years. ill have at least one cop behind me a week. do i get nervous? yes... but ive never gotten pulled over for it. and ive never had an HID ticket so i guess it all depends on the cop and the city

if you guys had inspections in fla you would know what you can and cant get away with . Im so envious of fla car laws no inspection , tint allowed and no front plates .

Florida is a really lax state. For a year and a half now I've had black taillight covers, blacked out side lights on front and rear bumpers, and my 3rd brakelight is pained with a z28 stencil that only shows light through the z28 and I have been pulled over plenty of times and I've never gotten any bullshit over it. I used to have black covers on the headlights but I took them off cuz I couldnt see shat and one of my buddys did get pulled over for "nightshaded" headlights. His headlights were rediculously dark though so I wouldn't worry

You could remove it alltogether and no one would notice.

You know, i never thought about that......Florida doesnt have inspections or anything like that for years now. As a matter of fact, i see all the hondas and stuff with tinted tail lights and all....so why couldnt i do that? lol I wouldnt mind tinting the third brake light since it will blend in with the wing, but still be functional. Hmm....i do have to think about this. Besides, the brake light is looking a little rough and i think tinting it will fix all that lol

Yea i like that! My side markers are kinda that dark too, but i plan on leaving my tail lights alone. I like the way the honeycomb lights look too much. I just want it to blend in a bit. I LOVE the paint job on your car too man! I think ive seen in here a couple of times on this site, that is definitely a sweet looking paint job (if it is a paint job of course.)

Just tint the brake light, highly doubt you will ever catch hell for it. I see you are in Lutz, you should def. be fine.

my bandit, is that blitz black you painted the car with or something else?

Yea it has an almost stealth look to it. I like flat paint jobs, very old school, but very modern looking if you put it on a newer car.

You know ALH, that is so true. It use to be the norm to get pulled over because of the GTS talk light covers, but now....the tinted tag covers are the one things cops will get you for it. So i think i`ll tint my third brake light. That will give me a cheap project to do this weekend. I`ll post pics up when i do it. Thanks guys!
