why are people replacing their battery like 2-4 times on cars that are up to 5 years old?

The AC Delco batteries are junk and leak acid from the positive post consistently. Dealer replaces junk battery with another junk battery. I dropped the money on a optima yellow top and haven't looked back. Too bad my battery tray will be corroded into dust within the next two years from all of the f*&#ing acid leaks...

My 2 Delco's never leaked, but they were the biggest pieces of **** ever made. Not to mention a PITA to take out. I've got a yellow top now and it pops in and out with no cussing!!

if it makes you feel any better i am very very lucky to get 2 years out of a battery of any brand, the extreme temps and the vast fluctuation destroy em worse than i was in ohio

My positive terminal was terrible, nearly fell apart when we were changing it. The negative as actually in decent condition.

Mines aren't too bad. I try to clean them off when ever I clean under the hood.

I've never had a leaking problem with my batteries but when I go for more than a week without driving my car there is hardly enough charge left to get the motor to turn over. After that point the batteries have never seemed to fully charge.

I've had 3 leaky batterys. I think it has something to do with our cars electronics.
I have always used Delco batteries and have only had a problem with this car.

Dam car shocks me everytime I close the door. All grounds are connected and tight.

QFT.

Had a major acid leak and dead cell on the Delco. Swapped in an Interstate battery that lasted about 9 months.

Dropped in an Optima Red Top, and seems to start easier. Let's hope it lasts.

I got a red top also after my acdelco took a crap. One of our racing buddies bought one in '98 for his drag car, and is still using it to this day. They are expensive though, $135 doesn't sound right though, they are closer to $190.
