My brother is planning on building a really simple turbo setup for his '94 S10 (3k pounds the way it sits right now :)). Right now it has a '92 350 TBI motor with a Professional Products intake (actually a very nice product) and Demon 625 carb, full MSD ignition w/billet dizzy, T5 tranny (it works decent)

The plan is to keep the motor the way it is minus the intake and carb and put 5-10 PSI to it with e85, no intercooler for the time being. He will be getting a blow through carb (not sure what size) and a Professional Products single plane intake. We will also be upgrading the tranny to a T56 when he can save enough cash to do the swap again.

I'm going to be building the hot side and hes planning on getting a Modular turbo, but not sure what size yet. He's not looking to make 700hp to the wheels or anything, but something that works good and makes decent power.

Anyone have some advice for a couple guys trying to do a setup like this on a budget?

If its a 92 TBI longblock in the truck I would get rid of those heads. They are already a bottleneck in a N/A application, so in a boosted setup it would be a worse situation. Just get anything but those heads.

LOL ya I know, we have a couple sets of heads laying around, but like I said hes not looking to make a ton of power. Maybe we'll put together the unported heads we have laying around, he also has a set of ported iron heads off of an early 2000s mud bogger. So we have a couple different options.

The cheapest "good" blow through carb on the market. You can always get one and convert it too.
