Default Do I possibly have shorter gears than stock?

I've had my car for a month or so now, and I noticed that my mechanical and digital speedos were reading differently. I've seen as much as a 9mph difference between the two with the digital reading higher. As far as I know the car is stock. So, I asked my buddy who used to have a GTO 6-speed with stock gears about what rpm he was at during cruising speeds. He thinks that mine is geared a good bit shorter than stock. I'm still running the original wheels with 245/45-17 tires. Tell me what you guys think.

These mph readings are off the mechanical speedo

1st gear top speed is 42 mph
6th gear @ 70mph is 2150rpm
6th gear @ 60mph is 1850rpm

The car also blows through 1st and 2nd gear spinning its *** off if I let it.

Thanks, Danny

Your 6th gear is about the same as mine and I have 3.91s so I'd say that's what you have. 18XX in 6TH at 70 MPH is stock

I'm right at/around 2000 rpm at 80 with my stock gears. Around 2000 going 45 in 4th. Around 2000 going 55 in 5th. Around 2000 going 30-35 in 3rd. Sounds to me that your gears are not stock. Lucky you! I want to get 3.91's

You got lucky and got 3.91s from the previous owner!! Some drag radials and dragbags will really make that a happy goat.
