Metrics in front + ET drags in back = Squirly?
I used to have Goodyear 275x40-17 in the front and drag radials in the back. Never a problem, but when I would race at the track I would switch out my rear wheels/tires for ET drags.. Let me tell you my knuckles were white the whole way down the track.
The *** end of the car would sway back and forth as your going down. It felt like it took 2 hands to keep the car in the groove. Whats happening is the front tires with the metric tread is following every/any little groove in the track and since the rear tires have a soft sidewall, when the front moves so slightly it exagerates the sway in the rear.
Now its not like I was gunna wreck or anything, but every run was like "whoa"
I kept the same rear ET Drags changed out to ET Fronts, the goes so straight down the track, I could race hands free.
If you want to keep metric fronts I strongly recommend using ET Streets. If you are stuck on running ET Drags then get a set of skinnies with ET fronts or even skinny metric tires would be fine, just dont mix 275x40's with 10.5 ET Drags.

If your car isn't a daily driver or if you change tires at the track definately spend the extra $$ and go with the ET Fronts.

This is only what I have found out - Our track is usally pretty shitty prep'd. If I am on my "game" I air my fronts to 45lbs, shorter roll-out, better reaction times. If I am quick at the tree, or as usually the track hasn't set the beams rights, I'll lower them to 35lbs (this usually will slow down my red lights).
It all depends on your track. If the lights are set-up right you should be able to run 42lbs in front. This should give you a shorter roll-out, and therefore give you a slightly better reaction time. (Bracket racers rule on reaction time)
