01ZO6 VS 03 Cobra and Shelby GT500 (twice) Have not posted here in a while. I had a free chance out of the house tonight as i had a babysitter. My wife had a party thrown for her as we are soon to be PCSing to Florida. Went to the local meet that hasnt changed since ive been here. Met up with a a buddy who owns a 06 bolton GTO with 3.91 gears and he set up the race. The Cobra is pullied, CIA, catback and tune. Dynoed in the of 44X rwhp range. The Shelby is also pullied and tuned numbers unknown. My mods in sig. Race 1- So the 4 of us (buddy trailing in the GTO) head out to mexico. 6 lane 3 lane side highway. We decided to go from 50. The Cobra gets the hit and jumps a quarter car on both me and the shelby. It stopped there. As i shifted into 3rd i was already back even with the Cobra and started to pull. The Shelby had fallen behind the Cobra half a car. As i wind out 3rd, i gain nearly 2 cars on the Cobra and its worse for the Shelby. Shifted 4th and Shut her down around 135mph and had 2 1/2 on the Cobra and a solid 3 if not more on the Shelby. Stopped at a gas station and my buddy said his Shelby had suffered from heat soak from the start. Race 2 On the way home my buddy with his GTO wanted in and the Shelby wanted another run after he had iced the charger. MUCH better run from the Shelby this time. Again from 50. I jumped out in 2nd and all through 3rd the Shelby slowly inched behind with us shutting down with me ahead by 3/4 a car. My other friend in the GTO was 2-3 cars behind. Great night! Wanted to share my fun night. 3 down more to go
