Bought my first F-Body, I Live in Phoenix, AZ.
Hi guys. I just bought a 99 Camaro SS. I am a convert from the Mustang 5.0 crowd. The car is gorgeous, however it has some mileage on her. 144,000 with a 6 speed. Everything is mechanically sound, the car runs great.
Mods that I can tell so far. Granatelli lid and a 3 inch GarbageMaster (Flowmaster) cat back. This has to go. It literally puts me to sleep on the freeway. Magnaflows are in order.
The dealership says it is chipped, and I don't know what to believe. When I test drove it, it was detonating above 4800 rpms. I took the plunge, and bought it. Put some premium fuel in her, and Seafoamed her. I have a little bit of detonation still, above 5500 however. I do not plan on beating on this car for at least 7 months, since it has become my daily driver.
I live in Phoenix, and I have just starting to look for a tuner, to sort this stuff out. I want to get it dynoed, and get it right. If you guys can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.
Sorry about the finger in the last pic.

What kind? BBQ, plain, ridged? I would clean those out before rodents find them.

I know this isn't an exhaust thread, but I really love my SLP LM1 exhaust, any other ones just seem to quiet for me.
Congrats on the purchase though, I love to see people converting from Mustangs to Camaros. Both really awesome and respectable cars, still think Camaro's are a smidge better.

Okay, I cleaned the MAF, new plugs (TR55's) (cylinder 8 was a bitch) and new MSD wires. The car still detonates but just for a split second right before 6000 rpms. I attribute this to the 110 degree heat now. Called a local tuner, and he says the heat will do this. When it cools off tonight, I will get on her again, should be about 90ish out. Will report back tomorrow.
Oh, and I haven't had the car for week, and some ******* in a truck hit the rear bumper and scratched it with his trailer hitch. I was beside myself, when I saw it. Just paint damage, however I am still irked, because whoever it was just drove off.
