Cadillac CTS-V - Random Stability Control Engaged message?

Anyone had an issue with the Stability control randomly engaging while going straight down the road? On the way to C&C this morning I was running about 70-75 down the interstate and all the sudden I felt a quick blip, and the "Stability Control Engaged" message popped up on the Nav screen. Did it 2 or 3 more times, then finally did it for 3-5 seconds, enough to kick the cruise out that time. When I left C&C, I had it do the same thing again once out on the highway. I then disabled it and continued on my way to the destination. I reenabled it once I go off the highway just to see what would happen, nothing unusual. Then I left and drove home about 30ish miles this afternoon, but never came on during that leg of the trip. I did notice I never got the message about anything being wrong with the system, just the engaged message. Wondering if I had something fluke happen, and the off/on cycle cleared it out, or if something is about to go bad and need $$/attention?

Just from reading, it seems like the steering wheel position sensor is a common-ish failure.

This was happening to my car recently. Same symptoms no ABS light or anything. Replaced the steering wheel position sensor and all was good.

I too have encountered this on occasion.

If you have staggered tire sizes that could also do it.

Mine has done this for the past 1-1/2 years and 80k....I've replaced the wheel speed sensors and steering sensors...HELL I'm not sure of which and HOW MANY I have replaced only to have the same problem over and over. I just turn T/C off and ride with it that way. I got tired of chasing gremlins around.

Thanks everyone, I'll keep an eye on it, and if it keeps going, I might look at replacing the SWPS first since it does seem to come up a lot.

it most likely is the swps.. i replaced mine and it solved it. now it haoppens once in a while at 120+ but its due to the 275/35/20 tires im running. once they started to wear down the car thinks its spinning

On mine it was the YAW sensor.

It is mounted right under the console at the rear.

If you suspect the SWPS, you can bang on the column while monitoring on TECH II as you turn the wheel.

The value should change smoothly while turning, but if it "jumps around" then it isn't good.

Are you monitoring the SWPS Voltage A and Voltage B, or the actual analogue angle output in degrees?

The voltage is smooth, but the steering wheel angle jumps from 0* to -64*

Monitor the output.

Should be smooth transitions to the limits.

Hold the wheel in position and bang on the column and see if the values go apeshit.
