What is an "oil filter adapter" when talking about gauges?

What is an "oil filter adapter" when talking about gauges? I'm about to order this kit:

The gauges I'm getting are:
Trans Temp Gauge
Air / Fuel Ratio Gauge
Oil Temp Gauge
It asks if I want an oil filter adapter, and idk what it would be used for. It also asks if I want the three gauge wiring kit, which I'm assuming I need.

It says V6 or V8. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the oil sending unit or if the gauge taps into the side of the oil filter adapter.
The place I'm referring too is where some turbo guys use their feed line.
I probably wasn't any help but I tried.

The oil filter adapter is the part between the oil filter and the engine block, its the actual part where you mount/bolt your oil filter. There's some that you buy to replace the stock unit with provisions for an external oil cooler.
