Default AllData-DIY

http://www.alldatadiy.com

This is a site that sells subscription-based technical
data to the service industry and individuals. I've been
checking on them periodically because when I bought
my car (and years after) they still had not brought
coverage online. However I have discovered today
that they now have the '02s up.

It costs you $25/year (less to renew). What you get
is full TSBs, some troubleshooting and miscellaneous info,
and what appears to be the full Helm manuals online.
At least, the schematics and figures look very much
like scans of my GM manual set which I have in paper.
Except online there are index trees etc. The Helm
manual troubleshooting charts also seem to be there.

On the downside, with almost all of the data being
scans off the original manuals (.gifs of tables), the
poor 56K dialup user is not going to be seeing real
zippy response. Even cable modem is a bit slow but
this is probably server related, not bandwidth.

At any rate, it is another option for those who do not
care to plunk down over $100 for shop manuals but
could use a ready reference.

They have some stuff up about referral commissions,
this is not my bag but it indicates maybe they would
consider site sponsorship or, maybe site owners could
set up their own little funnel on the side --->.

Ya all-data is a copy of the OE service manual.
It somethimes doesn't transfer well & things are hard to find but it's there.
They got almost everything in there (if you want different cars)

all data or we call in the biz NO data kinda sucks and have had very little success with it.

The best information is from Mitchell or Snap On "shop key" which are pretty much the same and provide the best aftermarket information. Both thoes programs carry a $5,000 a year price for subscription (now you know why we charge so much to fix cars) however you can get Shop Key "technicians edition" that has all the same information as the comprehensive import and domestic subscription for $380 a year. But it is only availble 6pm-6am M-F all day Saturday/sunday that are otherwise off peak times for their server.

The community college I go to has All Data online available for all members of the schools library. So maybe try checking that out at your local college.
